HDFC Bank has issued UPI credit card for making UPI payments. You can earn good cashback by paying with this credit card. This card is easily linked to any UPI app.

Blending Convenience and Rewards:

  • Benefits:

    • Convenience:  You can make payments with the help of this card using Paytm, PhonePe, etc.
    • Rewards: You get cashback points on UPI purchases.
    • Virtual card: You get this card in digital form so there is no worry about the card getting lost or stolen.

Additional benefits:

  • Virtual card: By removing the necessity for a physical card, it reduces the risk of loss or theft.
  • Interest-free credit period: The card gives you 50 days of interest-free time.
  • Linked to existing account: You should already have an HDFC Card or Any Credit Card.

Earning Rewards:

  • Earn 1 CashPoint for every Rs. 150 spent on eligible UPI transactions (excluding fuel, wallet/prepaid loads, and vouchers)
  • The monthly cap of 500 CashPoints earned through UPI transactions

Redeeming Rewards:

  • 1 CashPoint = Rs. 0.25 towards statement balance adjustment
  • Up to 50% of travel bookings (flights/hotels) using CashPoints on SmartBuy Portal
  • Up to 70% of select items in the Rewards Catalogue using CashPoints (the remaining amount paid with a credit card)
  • CashPoints valid for 2 years

Transaction Limits:

  • Daily limit: Up to Rs. 1 lakh (Rs. 2 lakh for specific categories)
  • A lower limit (Rs. 5,000) applies for the first 24 hours after linking the card to a UPI app
  • Subject to your overall credit card limit

Earning:

  • For every Rs. 150 spent on eligible UPI transactions (excluding fuel purchases, wallet/prepaid card loads, and voucher purchases), you earn 1 CashPoint.
  • There is a monthly limit of 500 CashPoints that can be earned through UPI transactions.
  • 3% Cashpoints on your PayZapp, dining, grocery, and supermarket purchases; monthly maximum of 500 Cashpoints
  • 2% Cashpoints on utility payments, with a monthly maximum of 500 Cashpoints
  • 1% Cashpoints on additional purchases, up to a monthly maximum of 500 Cashpoints.

Redemption:

  • CashPoints can be redeemed in several ways:
    • Statement balance adjustment: You get the value of 1 reward point of the card ₹ 0.25, you can redeem them through Internet banking.
    • Travel benefits:  By booking flights and hotels through the SmartBuy platform, you can use up to 50% of your cash points.

Validity:

  • Your cashback points remain valid for 2 years from the date of issue of cashback.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • The convenience of UPI payments:  By linking this card to any UPI app, you can easily make payments to any merchant by scanning the tax code.
  • Reward program:  You get 3% cashback on your supermarket dining and grocery and Payzap transactions, 2% on all utility bills, and 1% on all other purchases
  • Relatively low annual fee:  If you spend Rs 25,000 in a year, you get the benefit of waiving your annual fee.

Cons

  • Capped rewards:  This may prove difficult for those who spend more as there is a limit on the number of reward points you can earn on this card.
  • Lower credit limit:  You can get a good limit on this credit card because it is a free credit card.
  • Limited international usage:  The RuPay Network card is accepted internationally compared to other credit card networks such as Visa and MasterCard.
